	Product Overview:
	The AL-300 is the most cost effective RS485/RS422 converter on the market, yet it
	has all the features you would expect to see from more expensive models. Features
	like the ability to disable the RS422 driver to facilitate multi-drop functionality. The
	AL-300's outputs have comprehensive protection against both thermal and current
	overload, with built-in immunity to +/-15kV ESD and short circuits. In most cases the
	unit does not require external powering as it draws power directly from the PC's serial
	port. If very long cables are in use or the AL-300 is connected to many other devices
	external power can be provided.

	AL-300 supports several different standard operating modes for maximum device
	compatibility. whether it is part of a 2-wire half-duplex system or a 4-wire full-duplex
	system, acting as a slave or Master, AL-300 is ideal for interfacing any PC or Laptop
	computer with all types of RS422/RS485 devices.

	Where the converter is being used in 2-wire mode the transmit and receive signals on
	the RS422 side should be connected together externally. In this mode the unit will
	disable its RS422 driver in response to deassertion of the RTS signal on the PC's
	serial port, allowing other devices to transmit. In 4-wire mode it is recommended that
	the RTS signal is held permanently high (asserted) in order that the RS422 driver
	should remain enabled.
